Animal Taming Training

Training taming is a very slow process in that it can only be improved through active use. It takes several seconds to attempt to tame a creature, and when you succeed you cannot gain off that creature again. In most cases it is best to take this as a starting skill for your character should you wish to use it.

In order to increase the spawn rate of new targets you should use the player command [petsell as you progress. As a new player this will help you earn gold while you skill up.  You may find keeping some of them under you control to help cull the others helps matters.

Do's and Don'ts

  • DO NOT script tame.
  • DO use the player command [petsell after you finish taming so their are not free roaming animals.
  • Have a special armor set for each of the taming targets.
  • Wear eater armor. For example use cold+energy+damage eater for Cu Sidhe. Fire+Physical+damage+kinetic for Greater Dragon.
  • Don't wear Reflect Physical Damage armor parts. Because if the animal gets hurt, it will disturb your taming attempt.
  • The Armor should have Hit Point Increase and Hit Point Regeneration on it.
  • Do attack the pets to lower their HP's, because they are getting slower then.
  • Do use Orange Petals to protect yourself from poisoning.

Training Your Skill
  • 0 - 30: Train at NPC Animal Trainer.
  • 30 - 45: Cows and Sheep.
  • 45 - 60: Hinds and Timber Wolves.
  • 60 - 75: Walrus and Polar Bears.
  • 75 - 85: Snow Leopards and Panthers
  • 85 - 100: Bulls
  • 100 - 120:  Unicorns and Hiryus.

Alternate Training

Alternatively you can craft pet items with brush's (bought from the animal trainers) to gain skill. This way makes it afk-able but you will need alot of dyes bought from tailors or The Supply Store!

  • 30 -35: Normal Pet Dyes
  • 60 - 80: Unique Pet Dyes
  • 80 - 100: Rare Pet Dyes
  • 100 - 120: Pet Leashes

Methodology

Methods by which you can avoid being eaten by your prospective tame, if you have the relevant skills and abilities, are:
  • Use peacemaking on the creature.
  • Invoke honor virtue
  • Use the mysticism spell ‘sleep’ (or mass sleep)
  • Use the spell ‘paralyze’. Never use this method on a pet you intend to keep, use of the spell drops the pet’s skills by 4%.
